Building bridges: The lifecycle of dust and gas in the Milky Way with ALMA and SKA

30 June – 01 July 2022

EAS Meeting 2022

Valencia Conference Centre

Valencia, Spain

Website

The aim of this symposium at this year’s EAS Annual Meeting is to build bridges between groups studying events of similar nature in the life cycle of dust and gas but at different astronomical scales and in different environments. More information can be found on the webpage for the symposium.

Talks can be submitted using the form on this website. The deadline for abstract submission is 1 March.

Registration for the EAS 2022 Annual Meeting is now open, and very early registration is possible until 20 February. The full conference program is also ready for download.

I-TRAIN #12: CARTA tutorial

18 February 2022 (11:00 CET)

Zoom link

The next I-TRAIN tutorial will provide tutorials on CARTA, the Cube Analysis and Rendering Tool for Astronomy. This is a new image visualization tool that has been developed specifically for interferometric data, including data from ALMA, the VLA, and the SKAO. The tutorial will cover image rendering and matching, spectral line analysis, and catalogue visualization.

The tutorial will use CARTA version v3-beta2, which should be downloaded from the CARTA website and installed beforehand. CARTA is available for both Linux and Mac.

More information on the I-TRAIN tutorial series, including videos and presentations from prior tutorials, are available from the I-TRAIN website.

Showcasing ALMA Results from the UK Community

The UK ARC Node is committed to showcasing the excellent research being conducted by UK-based astronomers using ALMA, and we are open to submissions of ALMA-related research results that could be included in our newsletters. Any UK-based researchers that want to send us submissions should contact us via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the subject "Science Highlight". The submission should include a brief summary of the science results, links to any journal articles or press releases, and potentially an accompanying image. We look forward to publicizing more science results from the UK community.
