Update on the ALMA Configuration Schedule for the Remainder of Cycle 3
Poor weather at the ALMA site has resulted in more than a week of lost observing time. Owing to this lost time, the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) has revised the 12m configuration plan to optimise the science output for the remainder of Cycle 3. For more information please see the news article on the scheduling. PIs of project affected by this will be or will have already been contacted by their Contact Scientist to discuss the impact of the change.
Call for Proposals for the Advanced Study for Upgrades of ALMA

Young European Radioastronomers Conference 2016
05-09 September 2016
Haus Annaberg
Bonn, Germany
The annual YERAC is being organised and sponsored by MPI for Radioastronomy in collaboration with its IMPRS for Astronomy and Astrophysics and will be taking place this year in Bonn. YERAC is an opportunity for early stage radioastronomers (PhD students and postdocs) to meet, discuss their work and network. Participation is by recommendation only. Supervisors/directors of institutes are asked to nominate candidates and provide a supporting letter to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Each participant is expected to deliver a 15 minute talk about their work. The abstracts will be published electronically. For further details, see the conference website.
Half a Decade of ALMA: Cosmic Dawns Transformed
20-23 September 2016
Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa
Indian Wells, California, USA
This international four-day conference will highlight ALMA results at the threshold of the array's fifth year of science operations and bring together researchers from around the world to motivate collaborations for ALMA Cycle 5. Science topics will include all fields of astronomy, from cosmology and galaxies in the distant Universe, nearby galaxies and the Galactic Center, interstellar medium and star formation in our Galaxy, astrochemistry, circumstellar disks, exoplanets, solar system, stellar evolution, and the Sun. The conference will feature invited and contributed talks as well as poster sessions. Early career researchers and students are particularly encouraged to attend. For more details see the conference website.
Science for the SKA generation
07-11 November 2016
Goa, India
The next few years promise to provide a wave of new discoveries from the current suite of global radio telescopes. The scientists who are using these facilities to break new ground will soon become the first generation of users of the Square Kilometre Array. This conference aims to bring together early career and senior researchers from the radio astronomy community in order to present their current work, develop new collaborations, and preview the science that SKA1 will do in 2023 and beyond. For further details see the conference website.
